Designed by Christian Hemrick while at Matrix Technologies Inc. Industrial infrastructure of this steel plant process and program: handling hazardous materials, toxic chemicals, or thermal processing—zero margin for building envelope or structural errors. The project required precise detailing to modify existing structural steel framing, and to facilitate 2 new heavy-duty bi-fold door assemblies, as well as a structural platform extension to hold the drums of toxic chemicals. Dual-leaf insulated roof hatches with cap flashing were centered directly over internal hoist beam supports to allow seamless vertical equipment / tube manipulation, while maintaining a completely weatherproof shield when closed. Industrial Openings & High-Performance Coatings. The schedule specifies full flush, seamless heavy-duty steel doors with closer reinforcements, fully weather-stripped frames, & stainless steel panic hardware. All exposed metals are detailed for extreme durability & chemical exposure.
